Here are a few interesting or tedious movie facts from the last two decades of Holywood.

(1) - In preparation for his role as the Joker in the 2008 blockbuster " The Dark Night " actor Heath Ledger locked himself in a motel room for around six weeks. Ledger used his time hidden away to develop his own take on the comic book villain, Ledger delved into what makes a modern day Joker tick. While in his seclusion Heath Ledger developed the Jokers mannerisms, attitude and style of speech. With Heath Ledgers death shortly after the film was released, his role as the Joker is seen as a fitting epitaph to his talent as a versatile actor.

(2) - In the 2002 epic Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. From start to finish The battle of Helms Deep took four months to shoot, and all of the filming was done during the night time.

(3) - In the 1998 film American History X, leading man Edward Norton gained an extra 30lbs of muscle to play the part of Derek Vinyard.

In the Comic books the character of KIngpin was a white business man called William Fisk. Michael Clarke Duncan was chosen as the other actors who auditioned were white ex-wrestlers and they lacked the formers intensity and presence.

(6) - Holywood superstar Cameron Diaz made her feature film debut in "The Mask" alongside Jim Carrey. Diaz had to audition 12 times for the role and only landed the role a week before shooting.

Nice hub Asp52, I am a massive Lord of the Rings fan and the battle at Helms Deep has to be my favourite battle. I used to live not far from a place called Puzzle Wood in Gloucestershire where it is said Tolkein visited and it was one of the places that perhaps inspired him to write LOTR, you can see why too. Very atmospheric place, used to remind me of Fangorn Forest or Amon Hen.

Interesting bits of information. I never noticed that Xavier's estate also doubled as Lex Luthor's mansion. Thanks.
